UTILITY ASSISTANCE

Helping families maintain their water and power services brings light in more ways than one. Given the added financial burdens that holidays and the changing seasons can bring, The Salvation Army seeks to help struggling families maintain basic amenities.

How often is it available:

6 months of Energy Assistance, and 1 year for water

 (in addition, there MUST BE 6 months between all bill assistance) require CALLING for an appointment

Eligibility Guidelines

  • Picture ID (Suffolk, Surry, Isle of Wight, Southampton, and Franklin Residents only)
  • Birth Certificates for all children 12 years old and under, and proof of custody if you are not a birth parent
  • Proof of Income
  • Proof of Residency (Current lease or rent receipt)
  • Proof of Need (Termination letter, medical bill, etc)
  • Disconnect notice/Utility Bill in Your name (we help with past due only)
  • Receipt for portion you were able to pay
  • *All utility bills (must be past due for utility assistance)
  • ** Items must be printed/hard copy and not electronic (email available in office)
